Art & Design

I can’t help but create. Just like in work, I deeply focus on one thing for a phase and and set it down until I need it next.

I’ve designed interiors, furniture, landscaping and jewelry, all intentional explorations in creativity.

Ceramics and painting are two mediums that I keep returning to, no matter how many times I try to set down my brush.

Ceramics

Marrying art and function.

In the mountains of northern Lebanon, where my grandfather grew up, a master potter taught me that the name Dania means close to the earth.

What started as a summer apprenticeship became a practice. I make functional stoneware and porcelain bowls, cups, vases, all thrown on the wheel and finished by hand. I love the process of making something that’s both beautiful and functional for my home and yours.

My latest line includes lighting objects such as pendant lamps, shades and bases.

Pet Portraits

Our pets are a reflection of ourselves.

I like to make fun of myself with whimsical portraits that draw on personality quirks of person and pet.

When I pulled this frame from the trash, I wanted to put something that played on the juxtaposition of gilded gold and the NYC street. Inspired by Kehinde Wiley, mixing up my ideas with paper cut outs and AI generated backgrounds, I found the voice in my head just wanted to play with big bold colors, the contrast of casual and formal, and mixup my myself and my dog to highlight the absurdity of it all.

Architecture

In San Francisco at the beginning of the pandemic, I discovered the beauty in taking long walks with my neighbors. These paintings are a celebration of appreciating the setting of where we live.
